TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Columbus North senior Mackenzie Caldwell grabbed the lead midrace in today's Indiana State Cross Country finals, but was passed by Carmel senior Kelcy Welch who held on to win the girls individual title at Indiana State University.
Caldwell made a late run to catch Welch, but finished a couple seconds behind in unofficial results.
Columbus North boys and girls cross country teams fell short in their efforts to bring home a team championship. North's boys team finished second to Carmel, which also won the girls title. Hamilton Southeastern girls finished second and Columbus North girls were third.
