An Ogilville woman was injured early Sunday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash southwest of Grandview Lake in western Bartholomew County.

Brenda Sprague, 60, of 7981 S. State Road 58, was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital following the 12:14 p.m. accident on Youth Camp Road.

Sprague’s eastbound car was coming out of the S-curve at the top of Taylor Hill when the right-side tires began to spin in loose gravel, according to investigating Deputy Jeff Wehmiller of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department.

When Sprague swerved to avoid a crash, it caused her mid-sized Saturn Aura to spin around, Wehmiller said. The car struck an earthen embankment and flipped over once. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels in a wooded area just north of Youth Camp Road.

While the weather conditions were cloudy, it was not raining at the time of the accident and road conditions were dry.

A witness who reported the accident said Sprague was unconscious and trapped in her car, but Wehmiller reported she was awake and alert when emergency responders first arrived on the scene.

Columbus Regional Hospital spokeswoman Paige Harden said Sprague was treated and later released Sunday afternoon.

Volunteers from the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
