The Columbus East wrestling team hosted its 6-way dual tournament Saturday, posting a 4-1 record.
The Olympians beat Washington 60-21, Evansville Reitz 46-20, Greenwood 38-25 and Oldham County 33-29 before falling to Lawrence North 31-27.
“We had a good performance today,” East coach Chris Cooper said. “We had some close matches against Lawrence North and gave up some pins, but for most of the day our guys came out and attacked off the first whistle.”
Leading the way for the Olympians were Will Conner (106), Dalton Noblitt (132), Maurice Dantzler (160) and Jimmy Fisher (170) who all went 5-0.
Cooper said the performance from his team was much needed going into Wednesday’s meet against Columbus North.
“We were really prepared today,” Cooper said. “We have a big meet coming up against Columbus North, and to have a performance like this was big.”
Don't settle for a preview.
