Follow The Republic:

A 38-year-old Columbus man was killed in a single-vehicle accident early this morning near the intersection of  250W and 500N, according to the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department.

Ralph Berry II, 38, 8753 Miami Ridge Road, was killed in the 3:10 a.m. Sunday accident, Maj. Todd Noblitt, sheriff's department spokesman, said.

A passenger, Debra "Lacey" Sidwell, 28, 1627 Cottage Ave., Columbus, is listed in stable condition at Columbus Regional Hospital.

The accident occurred when Berry was driving a 1989 Dodge pickup toward his home and failed to negotiate a sharp curve, losing control of the vehicle and overturning in a ditch.

The curve where the accident occurred is on 250W, which is the road behind the rest park along the southbound lanes of Interstate 65. It is within a quarter mile of Berry's home, according to Bartholomew County Coroner Larry Fisher.
