Police arrested a man and woman after money was taken from an Edinburgh golf course.
Edinburgh residents Mersadies Myers, 21, and Clifton Service, 21, were arrested on charges of burglary and theft.
Myers told police she was working as a bartender at the Timbergate Golf Course, 151 St. Andrews Drive, and left the back door unlocked after closing at 9:15 p.m. Oct. 22, according to the police report. She told police she picked Service up and drove him to the golf course, where he was able to get into the safe using a PIN code Myers had given him, the report said.
About $3,000 was taken from the safe, the report said.
Police were able to identify Service from a surveillance video at the golf course. A cash box taken from the safe was found in his car, along with $735 in cash, according to the report. Service told police that Myers had the rest of the money at a relative’s house. Myers said that she did not know where it was.
Service told police the couple had taken the money to buy a wedding ring for Myers, the report said.
Both were arrested and taken to the Shelby County jail, where they were being held on $1,005 bond.
