Planning for death focus of local seminar

Follow The Republic:

More than once, biblical writers link life on earth to a race people are running.

If that’s the case, then organizers of an upcoming, free, local event surmise that finishing strong is as important here as in any race.

That’s the idea, in fact, behind the Finishing Strong Conference on end-of-life issues Friday and May 17 at Columbus’ First Christian Church, 531 Fifth St. The gathering is aimed especially at those 50 and older, according to organizers.

Topics to be covered include: Why plan for death? Long term care, including facilities, insurance, and hospice; an end-of-life folder for your family, location of important papers, farewell letters; end of life documents, including a will and trust; leaving a legacy; tithe your estate; distribute your stuff; preparing your funeral; cremation vs. burial.

And the conference will feature a Christian touch by examining, “What will heaven be like?”
