Police: North Vernon man rammed vehicle into home

A man North Vernon man was arrested shortly after a vehicle rammed a mobile home in North Vernon.

Greg D. Loper, of the 2000 block of Coventry Gardens in North Vernon, faces eight criminal charges in connection with the incident, which began Wednesday with Jennings County officers investigating a report of a disturbance at a residence on Steeleworth Way.

Officers arriving at the scene were told an individual had been ramming his vehicle into the side of a mobile home at that location. Police said witnesses also told them that at one point the driver had entered the home and battered three adults living there.

The man, later identified as Loper, left in his vehicle before police arrived.

After the initial investigation, officers went to Loper’s home on Coventry Garden Drive and arrested him.

Officers said that, during the arrest, they found methamphetamine, syringes, prescription pills and paraphernalia.

Loper was booked into the Jennings County Jail at 10:26 p.m. Wednesday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance, illegal possession of a syringe, burglary, violation of Legend Drug Act, criminal recklessness with a vehicle, battery and possession of paraphernalia.

An initial hearing had not been conducted as of Friday morning.
