Police arrest driver accused of hitting friend with car

Columbus Police have arrested Steven Cowan, 51, Columbus on preliminary charges of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon/aggressive driving and failure to stop after an accident resulting in serious bodily injury.

According to police, Cowan and a 42-year-old man were in an argument in a vehicle in the 2100 block of Ohio Street at about 7:39 p.m. Friday when Cowan attempted to leave the vehicle.

The 42-year-old told police he believed Cowan had a medical condition that made it dangerous for him to drive, so he stood in front of Cowan's vehicle so he couldn't leave.

The 42-year-old told police Cowan struck him with the vehicle. The injured man was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment.
