COLUMBUS, Ind. — A 19-year-old male found dead in an friend's apartment this morning appears to be the fourth heroin-related death in Columbus in a month, police said.
At 4 a.m., first-responders were sent to the 2200 block of Sims Court on a report of an unresponsive person. Medics unsuccessfully attempted to revive the man. He was pronounced dead by Bartholomew County Coroner Larry Fisher.
A resident of the apartment told investigators both he and the 19-year-old had used heroin early Wednesday night. When the resident woke up early Thursday, he found the man unresponsive and not breathing, said Columbus Police spokesman Lt. Matt Myers.
