Police looking into IRS phone scam reports

Follow The Republic:

Columbus Police are looking into complaints about a telephone scam in which individuals claiming to be from the IRS are calling area residents saying taxes are owed and then making threats to get money in checking or savings accounts.

Police are advising anyone receiving a call like this to not reveal any personal information and hang up. The calls are part of a phone scam that has been active in Indiana for several months.
