Columbus police are seeking help from the public in identifying a man suspected in a theft at a supermarket.
The theft at Kroger, 3110 N. National Road, Columbus, took place shortly before 9 p.m. Monday, according to a police department media release.
When Patrolman Chad Moore arrived, he learned that a customer told store personnel that her wallet had been stolen from her purse, the release stated.
While reviewing the store’s surveillance video, Moore found images that showed a male reaching into a shopping cart and taking the wallet out of the woman’s purse, police stated.
The victim was standing in the pharmacy area waiting on a prescription when her wallet, which contained several items including cred-it cards and a drivers license, were taken, the release stated.
But when officers searched the store and the immediate outside area, they were unable to find the suspect.
Anyone who recognizes the man in the surveillance photo can contact Moore at Columbus Police Department by calling 376-2600.
