Police warn of catalytic converter thefts

Follow The Republic:

The Columbus Police Department has received multiple reports of catalytic converters being stolen from vehicles near businesses located in and around the Columbus Municipal Airport on the north side.

Since February of this year, police have taken eight reports of this type of theft occurring, according to police.  Some businesses in the area have been hit repeatedly.

Police are asking that people working in this area pay extra close attention to their surroundings and report suspicious activity to police.

Officers have increased patrols in this area in response to the thefts.

Police have also received multiple reports over the past two months of thefts of air conditioner units. This is happening in different parts of town in both residential and business areas.  Any suspicious activity should be reported to police by calling 376-2600 or 379-1689.
