Robert C. Poynter, owner of Bob Poynter Chrysler Dodge Jeep Hyundai in Columbus and Bob Poynter Ford in Seymour, received the Arc of Indiana’s 2012 Employment Award at the agency’s annual state conference in Indianapolis.
Established by parents of children with disabilities, the Arc of Indiana gives this award to individuals or businesses that employ people with intellectual or developmental
handicaps. Recipients also strive to increase opportunities for these individuals in the workplace.
Poynter reflected on the impact that employee James Boyd has had on business and fellow employees.
“The growth we have seen in James since he first came to us is nothing short of spectacular,” Poynter said. “He is smart, witty and a very hard worker.”
Poynter said Boyd’s optimistic personality is a constant presence, influencing business and staff.
“His positive attitude and infectious good nature brightens all of our lives here at the dealership,” Poynter said. “We are all better people because of James.”
Poynter additionally received the 2012 Employer of the Year Award from the Columbus location of Developmental Services Inc., a nonprofit organization that helps disabled children and adults develop crucial skills that allow them to excel at home, work and in the
community.
