Brown County scores win against Greenwood Christian
NASHVILLE — Brown County’s Sophie Riebl, Rachel Smith and Lennon Lacy-Connell all scored in a 3-0 victory against visiting Greenwood Christian on Monday.
Riebl’s goal gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead after the first half. Kennedy Bruner set up Smith for a goal which put Brown County on top 2-0 in the second half, and then Lacy-Connell capped the win with an unassisted goal.
Arielle Suhre had two saves in goal, while Emily Medsker had three saves. Brown County is 8-4-1.
Seymour rallies from three goals down to beat Cubs
MADISON — Trailing 2-0 at halftime and 4-1 with 22 minutes remaining in Monday’s Hoosier Hills Conference match at Madison, the Seymour girls soccer team pulled off a stunning 5-4 win.
Kayla Griffin scored the game-tying goal on a free kick by Brielyn Tidd, and Grace Hartman scored her second goal of the match on an assist from Clare Lenart for the game-winner. That assist by Lenart tied her single-season school record of 13.
Lenart also scored a goal for the Owls (9-3-2) as did Devon Joray. Seymour outshot Madison 29-14, and Owls goalkeeper Kelley Sharp had seven saves.
Edinburgh loses thriller to visiting Waldron in five sets
EDINBURGH — Edinburgh’s Mara Cox had 29 kills, but it wasn’t enough as Waldron pulled out a thrilling five-set victory.
After Edinburgh took a two-set lead with 25-18 and 25-20 set wins, Waldron swept the last three sets 25-22, 25-16 and 15-12.
Megan Rooks had five aces and 41 assists for Edinburgh, which is 3-16 and 0-6 in conference play.
South Decatur overwhelms Jac-Cen-Del in sweeping win
GREENSBURG — Ashley Johannigman had 15 kills and 10 digs to push South Decatur past visiting Jac-Cen-Del 25-19, 25-16, 25-21.
Megan Niese and Julia Miller each had 13 digs and four kills for the Cougars, who are 5-3 in conference play and 16-7 overall.
Brittany Koors had 20 assists for South Decatur while Courtney Billingsley had four aces.
Oldenburg Academy edges Trinity Lutheran in three sets
OLDENBURG — Class A No. 14 Oldenburg Academy pulled off a 27-25, 28-26, 25-23 volleyball victory at home Monday against No. 12 Trinity Lutheran.
Caitlin Tracey led Trinity (14-9) with eight kills, and Hayley Carter and Haylee Barker each had four aces.
