Public safety family event scheduled at Donner Park

The City of Columbus Public Safety Family Fun Day will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Donner Park.

Columbus Mayor Kristen Brown will attend with Columbus Fire Chief Dave Allmon and Columbus Chief of Police Jon Rohde.

During this three-hour event, visitors will be able to see public safety demonstrations from representatives of the police department SWAT team, bomb squad and K-9 divisions.

Firefighters will meet with visitors, who can go for a ride on Tilly, the miniature fire engine, visit the “Survive Alive” safety trailer and see Fire Engine No. 1.

Safe Kids of Bartholomew County will host a Vehicle Hypothermia Awareness demonstration. Donner Pool will be open during the event with free admission.

Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies assessors also will attend to speak to those in attendance as part of CPD’s ongoing accreditation process.
