Gov. Mike Pence has reappointed Bartholomew County Emergency 911 Operations Director Ed Reuter to a second consecutive term on the Statewide 911 Board.
The 13-member board’s responsibilities include collecting surcharges from all communication service providers, distributing the funding to local units of government and running the operation of a statewide wireless system for 911 calls.
The board is credited with advancing new emergency services including “text-to-911” and “language line” — both of which have recently been implemented in the Columbus area.
Reuter, 60, was placed in charge of Bartholomew County’s emergency operations center in February 2007 after retiring as a major from the Indiana State Police.
The Columbus resident’s term is now scheduled to expire June 30, 2017.
