Road work begins on State Road 9

Follow The Republic:

Crews began milling away surface pavement today along State Road 9 between State Road 46 and the Bartholomew-Shelby County line.

Milling operations will continue through Friday, according to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Flaggers are on site to direct traffic around advancing work sites.

On Thursday, a motorpaver will begin laying a 3/4-inch asphalt overlay on the 8.5 mile section of State Road 9, starting at the State Road 46 intersection near Columbus.

Indiana Department of Transportation officials urge motorists to drive with caution as construction trucks move in and out of areas where milling and paving activities are in progress.

Dave O’Mara Contractor of North Vernon is the state’s prime contractor for this $657,948 pavement preservation project.
