Schneck Medical Center operating on generator power

Follow The Republic:

SEYMOUR — Schneck Medical Center had a power failure at approximately 1:30 a.m. Tuesday morning caused by a breaker panel failing, hospital officials said this morning.

The hospital is currently running on generator power.

At this time, Schneck is diverting emergency patients arriving via ambulance to area hospitals. The hospital is accepting emergency walk-in patients.

The hospital has postponed all scheduled surgeries and many outpatient procedures today, as well as all appointments at Schneck Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and Schneck Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Outpatient appointments with the Pain Center, Infusion Center, Cancer Center and Rehabilitation are unaffected. Women in labor are also being accepted in the Family Life Center.

The outage has had no impact on care provided to inpatients currently in the facility.
