Enrichment classes

Enrollment is open for Boost Your Brain enrichment classes at First Presbyterian preschool, 512 Seventh St.

Classes include reading, math, science and art.

Planning meeting

Columbus North High School will host a post high school planning meeting for junior parents from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Topics will include graduation requirements and preparation, taking the right tests and how to explore post high school options.

The format will allow parents to share with each other and ask questions of counselors.

Dyslexia seminar

Immanual Lutheran School in Seymour is hosting a free seminar 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday to help people understand and help children with dyslexia.

Susan Barton will share the cause of dyslexia, the classic warning signs, effective tutoring methods and the classroom accommodations needed to help them succeed.

The church is at 605 S. Walnut St.

Bull Dog directory

Columbus North High School alumni should expect to be contacted during the next few months to verify information that will appear in the Bull Dog Alumni Association directory.

The directory will include biographical listings with contact information, career overviews and family highlights. It also will include text and pictures of the school for reminiscing.

School musical

Ticket will go on sale starting Oct. 1 for Trinity Lutheran High School’s November stage production of “Annie Get Your Gun,” based on the book by Herbert and Dorothy Fields.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 8 through 11 in the school commons. A matinee performance also will be 3 p.m. Nov. 11.

Tickets cost $10 and are available through the school office. The school is located at 7120 N. County Road 857E in Seymour.

Free dictionaries

Retired teachers will distribute dictionaries to every third-grade classroom in Bartholomew County during the next few weeks.

Heritage Fund — the Community Foundation of Bartholomew County contributes $2,200 annually for the program, which extends this year to 15 home-school students.

Columbus Mayor Kristen Brown will help pass out dictionaries 9 a.m. Wednesday at Schmitt Elementary School.

Yearbooks on sale

Columbus North High School’s 2013 Log yearbook is on sale for $15 off the regular price until Sept. 30. Order forms for the 268-page full-color yearbook are available online at www.cnhsmedia.com, in the main office and in front of room 1505.

Students have until Sept. 30 to take advantage of the special reduced rate of $55; on Oct. 1 the cost of the book is $70 and can be ordered only online at

www.yearbookordercenter.com using order number 8881.

No extras will be ordered. Distribution day is May 22.
