The final lease controlled by a nonprofit development company was turned over Monday to Columbus Redevelopment Commission.
Mayor Kristen Brown said that Scotty's Burger Joint faxed notice about 15 minutes before Monday night's Columbus Redevelopment Commission meeting that it was reassigning its lease from Columbus Downtown Inc. to the city commission.
Under the previous administration, CDI was created to manage and negotiate leases dealing and to own property dealing with downtown development including the restaurant leases in the Fourth Street parking garage and The Commons. Brown has made it a priority to remove CDI from the workings of city government.
The Scotty's lease was the last restaurant lease still under the control of CDI. All of the property that was under CDI control has been transferred to the city.
