FLOYDS KNOBS — This year’s tourney was short-lived for the defending regional champion Seymour volleyball team.
The Class 4A No. 7 Owls fell to No. 6 Floyd Central 22-25, 25-20, 25-16, 14-25, 15-11 Thursday night in the opening round of the Floyd Central Sectional. Hayden Dailey led the Owls (30-4) with 23 kills.
The 30-win season was the fourth in a row for Seymour under coach Angie Lucas, who has announced her resignation.
“I’ve had many teams that didn’t even get 20 wins, so for us to reach 30, that’s quite an accomplishment in itself,” Lucas said. “Right now, it hurts because it’s over, but they’ll look back and they’ll realize they did something great here.”
