Seymour motorcyclist dies after collision with semi

A motorcyclist died Monday after he was involved in a wreck with a semitrailer in Freeman Field Industrial Complex on Seymour’s southwest side.

Joel O’Neal, 53, of Seymour, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on A Avenue by Jackson County Coroner Roger Wheeler.

An autopsy conducted later in the day revealed O’Neal, who was wearing a helmet, died of blunt force trauma to the chest and a skull fracture, Seymour Detective Sgt. C.J. Foster said.

Police said the truck driver, Anthony Turner, 41, of Seymour, failed to yield the right of way as he drove a 2005 Mack truck before it struck O’Neal’s bike.

The semitrailer belongs to Ranger Enterprises LLC in Seymour, Foster said.
