Shoaf confined feeding operation approved

Follow The Republic:

A Hope pork producer has approval to build a new 2,000-head hog confined feeding operation near Old St. Louis.

Monday, the Bartholomew County Board of Zoning Appeals gave Jeff Shoaf approval to build the hog barn.

Shoaf has also obtained a permit from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management to build the hog farm.

The farm will be located at 11420 E. County Road 800N. The hogs would be raised in a building that would be approximately 82 feet wide and 205 feet long, with an 8-foot-deep manure pit under the building.
