Some REMC customers without power overnight

Follow The Republic:

COLUMBUS, Ind. — More than 35 Bartholomew County REMC customers were without power Thursday night and this morning because of a broken utility pole, said Marty Lasure, manager of public relations and member services.

The outage was first reported at 8:23 p.m. The broken pole was discovered in the backyard of a customer near the State Road 46 and 25th Street intersection, Lasure said.

Power was restored to the bulk of REMC customers by 2:30 a.m. today. However, a handful in the North Trinity Heights Subdivision were out until 7:30 because of equipment problems and the fact that the pole was in a hard-to-reach area, Lasure said.
