Stars edge Panthers
NORTH VERNON — Jennings County won the top two singles positions, but Bedford North Lawrence took the other three matches to claim a 3-2 win in the Hoosier Hills Conference tennis tournament.
Owen Land won 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, and Tod Brown prevailed 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles for the Panthers. Adam Jackson fell 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3 singles, Avery Johnson and Jacob Woods lost 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Conner Wheeler and Colton Pifer fell 7-5, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Jennings will host Madison on Friday in the seventh-place match.
Eagles down Bulldogvs
MONROVIA — Lennon Lacy-Connell scored two goals to lead Brown County to a 3-1 win at Monrovia.
Rachel Smith scored the other goal for the Eagles (6-3-1). Arielle Suhre played the first 70 minutes in goal and recorded five saves. Emily Medsker played the final 10 minutes and posted two saves.
Artesians topple Eagles
NASHVILLE — Martinsville scored three times in the first half and went on to hand Brown County a 5-1 loss.
Collin Graeber scored the goal for the Eagles (9-3-1). Tommy Merriman recorded 21 saves.
Lancers fall in four
EDINBURGH — Edinburgh avoided a sweep, but Indiana Deaf posted a 25-22, 24-26, 25-21, 25-17 win.
Megan Rooks recorded 37 assists, and Lillie Parmer had 37 digs for the Lancers (3-15).
