State Road 9 project set to begin in April

Follow The Republic:

The Indiana Department of Transportation will do pavement work along 8.5 miles of State Road 9, from State Road 46 in Columbus north to the Shelby/Bartholomew County line.

Dave O’Mara, a North Vernon contractor, submitted a low bid of $657,948 for the project. The company will do asphalt patching during April. In May, O’Mara crews are scheduled to mill and resurface the north-south highway with a thin, hot-mix asphalt overlay. The application seals moisture away from the pavement.

The State Road 9 project extends through the town of Hope where Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant concrete curb ramps will be constructed during April.

INDOT officials anticipate all work will be completed by mid-June.
