The Columbus Police Department is increasing its parking enforcement efforts effective today with the aid of volunteers.
Five recent graduates of the department's Public Safety Academy are receiving training in local ordinances, parking enforcement techniques and ticket issuance.
The volunteers will focus on fire-lane, handicapped and three-hour parking violations — including the city's parking garage at Fourth and Jackson streets.
