COLUMBUS, Ind. — Nearly half of the Region 9 Indiana Works Council, a key part of Gov. Mike Pence’s education initiative, have a Columbus connection.
That includes six of the region's 13 members, representing 10 southeastern Indiana counties.
The 11 statewide councils look at whether the curricula offered by schools meet the vocational and technical requirements for businesses and universities in that region, said Jaclyn Dowd, picked by Pence to oversee the Works Councils and the Indiana Career Council, which focuses on analyzing the state's skills gap.
