Two local girls lived like royalty in an effort to bring cheer to area children.
Kiersten Baird, of Elizabethtown, and Jaelyn Perry, of Freetown, were cast in a roles of key “Frozen” characters Princess Anna and Queen Elsa, respectively, during summer sessions at STEPS Dance Center, which has locations in Vernon and Seymour.
The teens learned what their characters are like and gained an appreciation for children, said STEPS Director Sarah Arnold.
“I like to think they had the best summer job ever. I loved seeing the kids reactions!” Arnold said.
“I actually felt like a princess,” Baird said.
While in character, the students visited summer session classes, performed at the Jennings County 4-H fair, took countless photos with little fans and walked the midway at Jennings and Jackson counties’ 4-H fairs.
Perry is a student and drill team member at Brownstown Central High School. Baird is a student and cheerleader at Jennings County High School.
“My favorite part of work is doing special things for our kids,” Arnold said.
STEPS’ 12th annual season will begin the week of Sept. 8 in North Vernon and Seymour.
