Follow The Republic:

An 11-year-old Taylorsville boy didn't feel like riding the bus Friday morning and instead tried to drive his mother's car to school.

It was a trip that ended in juvenile detention, after the boy crashed the car near Taylorsville Elementary School, according to the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department.

The child is being detained on a preliminary complaint of reckless driving and is awaiting a court hearing.
