Teen arrested in crash that killed North Vernon man

Indiana State Police arrested a Scipio man in connection with a fatal crash in November.

Devin Ray Fear, 19, was arrested at 7 p.m. Thursday on a warrant for Class C felony reckless homicide and Class A misdemeanor driving while suspended.

The charges are a result of an investigation by Indiana State Police Trooper Matt Holley into a fatal crash that occurred Nov. 27, 2013.

According to Indiana State Police, Fear was driving a pickup truck on State Road 7 north of County Road 300W. Fear’s truck crossed the center line and collided with a passenger car driven by Michael Clinton Clay Taylor, 21, of North Vernon, who died the next day from his injuries, police said.

According to police, Fear’s driving privileges were suspended at the time of the accident. The pickup Fear was driving had no insurance coverage, police said. He was 18 when the accident occurred, police said.

Fear was booked into the Jennings County Jail on Thursday.
