Teen mom arrested in knife incident, accused of battery

A Columbus woman was in Bartholomew County jail Mon- day after allegedly cutting her boyfriend with a knife in front of their 1-year-old child.

Donesia Johnson, 18, 1915 Keller Ave., was arrested Sunday on preliminary felony charges of domestic battery with a child present and bat- tery committed by means of a deadly weapon.

The Columbus Police Department received a call from a man reporting a stabbing about 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Johnson’s residence. After receiving a vehicle description from the caller, police stopped the vehicle at 17th Street and Gladstone Avenue.

Johnson, her 1-year-old child and another female were in the car. The child was unharmed.

Johnson’s boyfriend had cuts but refused medical attention.

“There was no stabbing, but he did get some abrasions and some lacerations during the scuffle,” said Lt. Matt Myers, spokesperson for the CPD.

CPD officer Courtney Plummer made the arrest.
