Teenager spends summer doing charity work overseas

Follow The Republic:

Braden Hammond of Columbus spent July 3 to 17 in the Dominican Republic performing humanitarian work for the poor.

He traveled as part of the Humanitarian Experience for Youth program with 18 other youths from around the United States to build a rural medical center.

Work included digging, mixing cement, laying brick and serving those in impoverished conditions.
