Jimmy Fisher, Columbus East, senior wrestler

Fisher finished second at 152 pounds in Saturday’s Evansville Reitz Regional to qualify for this weekend’s state finals.

His performance last week:

“I feel like it was probably the best tournament of the year that I’ve wrestled so far, other than sectional, but I’m still not satisfied with the way it turned out because I was runner-up. If I was always satisfied, I’d never improve.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

“About four or five weight classes before mine, I go to a place where I’m alone, and I like to focus on my moves and try to play out what I’m going to do during the match.”

Kelsey Cunningham, Columbus North, senior basketball player

Cunningham recorded 12 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals in Saturday’s 66-48 sectional final win against Bloomington South. Earlier in the day, she had 10 points, three rebounds and five assists in an 85-56 semifinal win over Columbus East. She also had eight points, four rebounds, seven assists and six steals in a 78-33 first-round win over Shelbyville.

Her performance last week:

“Our team had good games all-around. We all rebounded, and we passed the ball around, and we made most of our shots.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

“I like to eat a Tropical Smoothie before games.”
