Spiritually thirsty young adults at Columbus’ Terrace Lake Community Church can go to The Well for refreshment.
It’s a weekly gathering at 7:30 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at Tim and Jessi Viola’s Columbus home. In biblical times, wells represented everything from rest to a place to be rejuvenated.
Each week, about 10 to 15 people ages 18 to 30 discuss elements of Scripture. Figures from agencies such as the Barna Group, which tracks Christian trends, show that the age group often is overlooked in many churches.
Currently, the focus is the Book of Judges, highlighting Israel’s rulers who were imperfect foreshadowers of Jesus, Tim Viola said. Gatherings normally begin with live music and worship, then also include teaching and discussion.
Most gatherings end about 9 p.m. The group also participates in monthly activities such as movies, winter ski trips to Perfect North and laser tag.
