COLUMBUS, Ind. — An increase in the number of mo-peds operating on Bartholomew County roads has resulted in more crashes, serious injuries and deaths over the past four years, according to police data.
Through the first nine-and-a-half months this year, there were 21 injuries resulting from mo-ped accidents in Bartholomew County, more than any year since at least 2008.
Sheriff’s deputies this year have investigated four mo-ped crashes that have resulted in two deaths, as well as injuries to three other people, Chief Deputy Maj. Todd Noblitt said.
