Trooper hit assisting at I-65 accident; not seriously hurt

Follow The Republic:

An Indiana State Police trooper assisting following an I-65 accident Sunday afternoon was struck by another vehicle, but not seriously injured.

Master Trooper Jason Duncan of Columbus, an 18-year member of the department, was blocking the northbound right lane of the interstate near the Taylorsville exit, where a semi had been involved in an accident and debris remained, Sgt. Brian Wilson said in a press release.

With all emergency lights activated on his fully marked 2008 Ford Crown Victoria, the cruiser was struck from behind at 3:46 p.m. by a 2003 Toyota Carolla driven by Karson Tays, 19, of Columbus, according to the release.

Trooper Duncan, 40, was treated for cuts and abrasions at Columbus Regional Hospital, then released. Tays was not injured.

No charges were immediately filed as the crash remained under investigation.
