AUSTIN, Ind. — A Seymour woman died and killed another driver after she crossed the center line of a state highway in northern Scott County.

Eleanor D. Morgan, 76, crashed head on into a pickup truck driven by Joyce Turner, 81, of Austin, at about 3:25 p.m. Wednesday on Indiana 256 east of Austin, according to Indiana State Police. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene by the Scott County coroner's office.

Morgan was traveling west bound when she crossed the highway's center line, the state police said. Troopers do not know why she crossed the line.

Morgan was wearing a seat belt, but Turner was not, police said. There were no passengers in either vehicle.

The crash is still under investigation by the Indiana State Police crash reconstruction team.

The Jennings Township Volunteer Fire Department and the Scott County EMS assisted at the scene.
