After some adjustments and realignments, the Mill Race Marathon courses are now complete.
And the 26.2-mile marathon route is certified, making it a Boston Marathon qualifier.
The maps are ready to view on the official race website at millracemarathon.com. Click on the “Race info” tab at the top and check out the course maps for the marathon, half-marathon and 5-kilometer events.
The marathon and half-marathon routes originally were heading down the newly transformed Fourth Street entertainment area downtown, but planners determined the street would be too narrow for the large number of runners at the start.
A portion of the race that was going to be on the People Trail also was changed because of the path width.
Some other areas were changed because of tight turns in favor of roads with wider, smoother turns that are preferred by runners.
Another loop was added in East Columbus to include State Street and Gladstone and Indiana avenues to ensure the courses covered the full distances.
