Two women were injured when their vehicle drove off Interstate 65 and flipped Monday afternoon.
Police think the driver of the vehicle, Peggy Wyler, 70, of West Lafayette, Ohio, fell asleep. When passengers in her car woke her, she drove off the side of the interstate near the Edinburgh exit and the vehicle overturned, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Maj. David Tilford said.
The accident happened about 4:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes, near mile marker 80.5, Tilford said.
All four women in the vehicle were wearing seat belts, and no one was trapped in the vehicle, Tilford said.
Wyler and a passenger were taken to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Margo Hamilton, 74, Coshocton, Ohio, was taken by medical helicopter, Tilford said.
He did not know the extent of their injuries.
Two other women in the vehicle were treated at the scene and released, Tilford said.
