Ward autopsy shows cause of death as 'massive blunt trauma'

Follow The Republic:

Kevin Ward Jr., the 20-year-old sprint car driver who died at Canandaigua (N.Y.) Motorsports Park after being struck by Columbus native Tony Stewart during a dirt track race, died from massive blunt trauma, according to the Ontario County (N.Y.) Sheriff's Office.

An autopsy was conducted Monday, said Ontario County (N.Y.) Sheriff Philip Povero.

In a Monday afternoon news conference, Povero said that no criminal charges in the incident have been filed and there are no facts that would support probable cause of any criminal behavior.
