Three Columbus residents have been arrested in connection with the theft of items from an undercover police officer’s vehicle, including a weapon, an Indiana State Police media release said.
Dustin Matthew Tays, 23, 1513 Laurel Drive; Robert W. Remboske, 33, 626 Hutchins Ave.; and Ryan Michael Melloh, 25, 737½ Cottage Ave., are incarcerated at Bartholomew County Jail.
Between 11 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 a.m. Monday, an undercover Indiana State Police vehicle in Bartholomew County was broken into, and a .45-caliber Glock Model 21 handgun, two additional and fully loaded magazines and other law enforcement-related items were stolen, Sgt. Noel Houze, state police public information officer, said in the release.
Since then, state police and Bartholomew County police have been investigating the theft.
The stolen items, including the handgun, have not been recovered. Details of the arrests are not being released while the investigation continues, Houze said.
The office of Bartholomew County Prosecutor Bill Nash will determine what charges, if any, to file.
