Third-seeded White Lightening downed top seed Blue Blazers 5-4 in sudden-death overtime to win the Columbus Summer Broomball League’s Session No. 1. White Lightening had beaten No. 2-seed Red Raiders 6-2 in the play-in game.
Tyler Houchin, who broke his humerus in Week 3, scored 13 goals in only two weeks of play to claim the scoring championship. Nathan Kent finished with 11 goals, while Tyler Douthitt added nine and Tamas Rauznitz had seven.
Drop-in will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. the next three weeks. Cost is $15 per player.
Sign-ups are ongoing for summer session No. 2, which will be July 24 to Aug. 21. Only a few spots remain. If the goal of 33 players in reached, the cost will be $37 per player.
