A three-vehicle crash near Elizabethtown sent one woman to the hospital this morning, police said.

Angela Douglas, 49, of Columbus was briefly trapped in her car following the 7:39 a.m. accident on U.S. 31, south of State Road 7, according to Chief Deputy Maj. Todd Noblitt of the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department.

After first-responders removed her from the wreckage of her Chevrolet Impala, Douglas was first taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment of numerous injuries to the lower part of her body, Noblitt said.

While a decision was made to transfer the woman to Indianapolis, Douglas had to be transported by ambulance because the Lifeline Helicopter was unable to fly during the storm, Noblitt said.
