COLUMBUS, Ind. — When Columbus’ Tom Pickett was a teenager in the 1940s, Hoosier native Cole Porter’s tunes were huge worldwide and among his favorites.
“I think there’s now a renewed hunger for his music today,” said Pickett, a longtime local musician and music store owner. “Very seldom do you hear his songs on the radio anymore.”
That’s one reason Pickett has organized and will serve as narrator for “Crazy for Cole: A Tribute to Cole Porter” at 7 p.m. Saturday at YES Cinema.
