Young faces quiet crowd at town-hall meeting

SEYMOUR, Ind. — A small, supportive crowd listened Wednesday to U.S. Rep. Todd Young, R-Ind., explain the problems of the federal budget and House Republicans’ solutions for fixing them.

Young — who along with U.S. Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., voted for the budget plan — did not need the police officers and sheriff’s deputies providing security for his event at the Learning Center. His experience contrasted with that of some Republican congressmen who have faced hostile town hall meetings because of their votes on the House Republican’s budget bill, which calls for significant changes to Medicare and Medicaid.

Young, Indiana’s 9th District representative, spent 45 minutes presenting a House Republican Conference slideshow designed to explain the need for bold and aggressive changes.
