Zonta Club to mark Women’s Day March 7

Zonta Club of Columbus will celebrate International Women’s Day on March 7 at Columbus Learning Center, 4555 Central Ave. Guest speaker will be Loung Ung, author and national spokeswoman for the American Vietnam Veterans Foundation.

Hors d’oeuvres, catered by Smith’s Row, will be served at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium lobby, and Ung will speak at 6:45 p.m. in the auditorium.

Ung was forced to flee Cambodia as a child, then trained as a child soldier in a work camp for orphans. She survived the brutality and horrors and lost her parents and a younger sister to execution.

Ung will be available to sign copies of her book, “First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers,” following the program.

Tickets are $25 or $5 for students younger than 18. They can be purchased at Natural Choices, 1825 Central Ave.; or Lockett’s Ladies Shop, 426 Washington St.
