Columbus — What better way to kick off the holiday season than with Rudolf?
Dave Rudolf, that is.
The Columbus Area Arts Council’s First Fridays for Families welcomes the holiday season with the "Ho Ho Ho Holiday Show" with singer Rudolf at 6 p.m. Dec. 2 in The Commons. All First Fridays for Families programs are free.
His show features kids twisting to the “Candy Cane Twist” and hula hooping to “Santa’s Got a Zoot Suit.” The audience will enjoy some tradition holiday tunes and parodies such as “Oh Come, Oh Come, I Read the Manual,” “Frosty the Slow Man” and lots of other Yuletide spoofs.
A three-time Parent’s Choice award winner, Rudolf was Captain Kangaroo in the TV pilot of "Saban’s All New Captain Kangaroo." The Second City’s Children production “A Tale for Two Kiddies” was based on and featured Rudolf’s music for kids.
In addition to his children’s albums, he has released 9 albums for adults. He has been featured on Dr. Demento’s radio show and opened for Cheech and Chong, the Beach Boys, Tim McGraw, Leo Kottke and many others.
“We’re happy to bring Dave Rudolf back to Columbus to get the holiday season underway,” said Donna Stouder of the arts council. “One thing is for certain—he’s coming to entertain not only the children but their parents and grandparents as well. His music and humor is definitely cross-generational.”
