Catherine L. "Kay" Morgan Bentley, 73, of Madison, died at 11:35 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.

Kay entered this life on September 28, 1938, in Jefferson County, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Leonard H. and Alma Vincent Smith Keith. She was reared near Canaan and was a 1956 graduate of Madison High School.

Kay began her bookkeeping career at Meyers Manufacturing with Beano Davis, later working as the finance clerk for the Firestone Store with Lester Lee. She then served as secretary and treasurer for Gans Funeral Home in downtown Madison from 1960 to 1980 and then worked in the accounting department for Commonwealth Electric at Marble Hill until 1984. Kay also owned and operated Kay's Korner Dress Shop in downtown Madison for five years.

She retired in 2002 from Madison Consolidated High School where she had served as treasurer since 1984. Kay was a longtime member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority, Theta Mu Chapter, serving as State Treasurer from 1982 to 1984.

Kay was a faithful member of North Madison Christian Church and served the church in whatever capacity needed. She also had served as treasurer of many church committees.

Kay was united in marriage on May 1, 1992, at North Madison Christian Church, by Brother John Lowry, to Roy T. Bentley Sr. This happy union was blessed with twenty years of happiness.

Kay was known for her hard work, dedication and warm smile. She loved reading her Bible daily, crocheting, caring for her children and grandchildren, traveling and seeing God's beauty. She also was a wonderful cook.

Survivors include her husband of twenty years, Roy T. Bentley Sr. of Madison, Indiana; her sons, Troy Morgan and his wife, Lisa, of Madison, Indiana, Trent Morgan and his wife, Jenni, of Columbus, Indiana, and Tom Bentley and his wife, Pam, of Madison, Indiana; her daughters, Beverly Barnes and her husband, Jim, of Springfield, Illinois, and Rhonda Hollinden and her husband, Tony, of Tell City, Indiana; her sister, Joy Hackett and her husband, Junie, of Carrollton, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Kaylan Morgan, Haeli and Jacob Morgan, Hailey and Paige Jones, Doug Barnes (Liz), Tom Hollinden (Kristen), Chris Hollinden (Kelly), Andy Hollinden (Erika), Joey Hollinden, and Greg Hollinden; nine great-grandchildren; her aunt, Madge Keith of Carrollton, Kentucky; her sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Combs Waltz and her husband, Charles; and several nieces, nephews and cousins

She was preceded in death by her father, October 29, 1987; her mother, July 21, 2000; and her sisters, Joann McDaniel and Janie Abbott.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2012, at North Madison Christian Church, 1400 East State Road 62 in Madison, Indiana, with Brother Bob Hicks and Brother Robby King officiating. Calling will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana, and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Burial will be at Hebron Cemetery near Madison, Indiana.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to North Madison Christian Church Building Fund. Contribution cards are available at the funeral home.
