Arthur Kern Poer, 64, of West Lafayette, passed away at 6:02 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Central. Born October 24, 1947, he was the son of the late Dorsey and Louise (Kern) Poer of Rushville.
Originally from Rushville, Arthur also had lived in Shelbyville. He served as a Military Policeman in the Army and had farmed most of his working life. He was a member of Mt. Auburn Christian Church in Mt. Auburn, IN, and volunteered with the Veteran’s Administration for many years.
Survivors include his daughter, Elaine Kvernum (husband, Joseph) of Columbus, IN; and a sister, Carolyn Lockman (husband, Wes) of Terre Haute.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Thanos, and a brother, Joseph Poer.
Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Indiana Veterans Home Chapel in West Lafayette with Chaplain David Hess officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Auburn Christian Church Cemetery east of Edinburgh, IN, at 1 p.m. EST.
